So... How's Your Girl by Handsome Boy Modeling School
My first blog post in years!!!
Today I called out of work because I was too achey from canvassing in the heat during the day, then hopping around to two different friends' celebrations in the evening. I'm accepting that my body has less endurance than it used to. I have a temporary weekend job, and if I can only do one day a week, that's okay.
My partner was away from the house for a big chunk of the day, and I hung out on some body-doubling Twitch streams that use a pomodoro timer and have a cool set up for adding and checking off tasks. I love the vibes of working along with folks in an adorable channel. Maybe one day I will stream on there, but for now I'll just enjoy what other people do.
I pulled a tarot card for the first time in a hot second. I drew the Six of Wands.
Before I looked up the meaning, which I had vague recollections of, I studied the card. Ceremonial, clearly not in battle, the horse is wearing a cool poncho that would keep it from going fast, a laurel crown represents victory, others are sharing in the ceremony, this person must be highly lauded for their accomplishments. The horse rider looks confident and calm. A wreath hangs from their wand, signifying something ceremonial, and leaves grow from the wands, or spears, that used to be weapons, but now are sources of life and growth.
Then I explored the number 6, first reflecting on its cultural use. It's got some good ones...
666 and 69
Then
if you multiply 6 by 70 you get 420...and if you add the digits of that number...you get 6 again! 6 is involved in the three
coolest numbers there are.
Then I did some reading from a couple of different sources and filled my whiteboard with the info, as any healthy adult would.
Common interpretations of the number are perfection, harmony, balance, interconnection, and peace ✌︎ So combining that with wands, the firey suit that represents creation, passion, action, and movement, I can interpret that as having perfected the passion-driven action one has taken, and achieving harmony, peace, and communal celebration of the accomplishment.
Seemingly less relevant to the tarot meaning is the personality profile of 6. One thing that really spoke to me was that "The creative talents of 6 are often left underdeveloped because of the tendency to sacrifice time and pleasure to the service of others." I relate to this hard! (The ADHD doesn't help.) I have a habit of putting my own interests on the backburner, or previously, even feeling like I have none of my own at all. This doesn't mean I need to stop caring about my friends and just be in it for myself, but it means I do need to take responsibility for my own boundaries and meeting my own needs and passions. It's not on me to fix people's problems, and doing so is overstepping anyway!
While I don't feel like I am currently at the 6 of Wands (triumph, acclaim, pride), I am inspired by the wand suit; that's where you make magic.
As the Magician makes use of spiritual, material, emotional, and intellectual resources, as well as the resources of the spiritual, universal, and the earthly dimensions, I was pulled to make some mind maps of my own resources. In addition to those listed, I included communal resources, creative resources, and resources regarding health and finances. I have what it takes to make the 6 of Wands happen, which to me means taking charge of my own life, diving into creative endeavors, and building accessible paths of income that allow for independence and freedom.
That's all for me this evening. Thank you to anyone who read!
